Array Section Analysis

Array sections describe the set of array elements that are either read or written by program statements. An important aspect in such analyses is to formulate a method for describing these sections. Various factors influence the choice of a particular method: factors such as precision, efficiency and practicality. Precise analysis can render high quality solutions and is therefore desirable. But, often, precise solutions are not efficient. Efficient solutions on the other hand sacrifice precision. Practicality addresses the issue of how easily a particular technique can be put into practice and also the class of problems that can be solved successfully with a given technique.
